Hungry in Chicago? Don’t know where to go? Ask a cop.

The Beat Cop’s Guide to Chicago Eats is a handbook for people in Chicago hungry for food that’s good, fast, and cheap. Whether you’re visiting our lovely city or you’ve lived here your whole life, the sheer volume of restaurant choices can be overwhelming. Zagat’s is nice. Zagat’s will tell you that Tru makes a hell of a good molecular clam foam gravy. But people who read Zagat’s already know that. Our book is for you, the person everyone turns to at lunch and says well, where do we go, hot shot? We’re hungry! Feed us! Where do you go when you’re hungry in Chicago? Well don’t ask Zagat’s. Ask a cop.

Sgt. David Haynes has been humping the streets of the Windy City for thirteen years. Makes a man hungry. But, like all cops, Haynes only has 30 minutes to get in, get fed, and get out. However, being a man with a wealth of taste, Sgt. Haynes has perfected the art of finding the perfect lunch joint: quick, local, unique food served fast, hot, and for less than ten bucks.

The 88 entries in The Beat Cop’s Guide to Chicago Eats will help you keep your belly full for less than an arm and a leg.

I heard your show tonight on Bob Surrat and I thought it was a great interview. I look forward to getting the book. I see that you can order the book on line, but it’s not available until may. When it does come out, where else will it be available to purchase, other than the internet? I appreciated your plug on Jonnie’s Beef in Elmwood Park! Don’t forget about the New Star, Chinese Restaurant, 2 doors down! Best Chinese Restaurant in Cook County and it’s been there for over 50 years. If you need any help pushing sales for your book, I’m a fantastic salesman and I’m currently out of work! If you need a reference you can contact Mike Thomas, a Chicago police officer in Chicago. I look forward to hearing from you!
